Primate Ayodele urges rehabilitation of dismissed policemen, says step will reduce banditry, terrorism
Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, Founder and Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has advocated rehabilitation of security personnel caught in unlawful acts rather that outright dismissal.
Primate Ayodele made the call at the international headquarters of his church on Friday, July 24, 2026.
He said dismissing police and other security men who are trained in the act of shooting gun is not the best for the country, rather, he argued that what should be done was to send them to correctional centres for rehabilitation and subsequently reabsorbing them into the force.
Primate Ayodele said, “You see Nigerian police, anything we are doing, let’s use common sense.
“We are the ones increasing Boko Haram, terrorism.
“When you say I dismiss four police men because they source money, just as you said it, allegedly, what would you do? Take them to rehabilitation centre, because these people you have dismissed, they are sharp shooters, when they don’t have money again, somebody will give them gun to go and kill people, and they will go and kill, common sense.
“Instead of dismissing police army, immigration, people you know that can shoot, take them to rehabilitation center, let them be useful and let them reabsorb them, rather than dismiss them when they are angry, what do you expect them to do?
“That is not how a country grows, that is the truth,’ he said.
