Igboanugo Emerges President Rotary Club Of Revolution Lagos, Unveils N44.9m Projects
The Rotary Club of Revolution Lagos, has rolled out an ambitious lineup of humanitarian projects worth N44,950,000 for the 2026/2027 Rotary year, with clean water for a primary health centre and school infrastructure upgrades topping the agenda.
The projects were unveiled over the weekend during the inauguration of the club’s 3rd President, Rotarian Chief Dr. Bonaventure Igboanugo at Martino’s Events Centre and Hotel, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The new president, a seasoned entrepreneur and philanthropist, said his administration will focus on tangible impact in health, education, environment and community development.
Igboanugo announced that his Star Project for the year is the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, WASH, project at Olusosun Primary Health Centre, Ikeja. “My Star project is the water and sanitation project which would be carried out at Olusosun Primary Healthcare Centre.
“That place hasn’t had good pipe borne water and it’s a primary health centre that caters for more than a thousand women, children and also some local indigenes. So we want to give them good treated pipe borne water. It’s costing us a lot but we believe that from this event we’re going to raise the money to ensure that these people have access to clean water.
“It doesn’t make sense that a patient who visits a primary health centre will drink bad water,” he said.
The project is expected to provide treated pipe-borne water and improved sanitation facilities for patients and staff at the facility.
Beyond the star project, Igboanugo listed eight additional projects that will be executed before June 2027:
They include Supporting the Environment by Restoration of electricity supply at Oregun Junior and Senior High Schools through the provision of 16mm armored cable to supply power to the schools; BELL Project, Complete rehabilitation of the ICT Centre and roof repair at Oregun Junior High School, Oregun, Ikeja; third is Disease Prevention and Treatment with Provision of First Aid Kits at Command Primary School, TA LACBAJA Brigade of Guards Cantonment, Maryland; Tree Planting and Beautification at Command Primary School, TA LACBAJA Brigade of Guards Cantonment, Maryland and Waste Management through Supply of 5 large waste bins and 2 small waste bins to Command Primary School, TA LACBAJA Brigade of Guards Cantonment, Maryland.
Igboanugo said the total cost of the projects is N44.95 million and expressed confidence that members, friends and corporate partners will support the fundraising.
“Since we took office from the first of July, in two months we’ve delivered two key projects,” he told journalists.
“The first was giving over 200 pregnancy kits to pregnant women at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja. The next was the donation of a 10KVA generator to a school in Apapa, to provide 24/7 electricity.
“On this special occasion, we’re unveiling eight more projects. God helping us, with the help of club members, family members, friends, we’re going to achieve this fundraising to achieve our objectives,” he said.
He also placed emphasis on growing the club. He said five new members have joined since he assumed office on July 1, 2026.
“Our target is at least 20 new members in one year. With this event we’re going to get even more because I believe many people here are happy with what we’re doing and they would want to support us.”
Igboanugo urged professionals to join Rotary, describing it as a platform for networking and service. “Basically the advantage of joining Rotary is that it helps you to network, meet different people from different professions, different walks of life. Rotary is basically all about vocation.
“It’s a community that has different vocations, people, skills and all that come together to carry out humanitarian projects.
Addressing the perception that Rotary is exclusive to the wealthy, Igboanugo said service is built on Time, Talent and Treasure.
“For people that don’t really have money, you have your three Ts’: you have your time, talent and treasure. You have time to allocate to do the work. You have talent to execute projects, you’re also welcome. If you have the resources, wonderful. If you have two out of the three, you are welcome. And if you have one out of the three, fine.
The immediate past president, Rotarian Sir Henry Uzodinma Obienu, formally handed over leadership to Igboanugo. He said, “We waited for this day to come, and by the grace of God, it has. I officially hand over the baton of leadership to my friend and brother, Rotarian Sir Dr. Bonaventure Igboanugo, he’ll take the club to greater heights,” Obienu said.
Obienu pledged 100% support to the new administration. “I’m going to give support financially, physically, emotionally, whatever support he needs to take this club to greater heights.”
He also noted Rotary’s global response to emergencies, citing the recent disaster in Nepal. “Rotary has swung into action, because we’re people of action.”
The Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ositadinma Sunny Nwokedi, Uthoko N’Eze Achalla VI, gave his royal blessing to the new president. “Rotarian Bonaventure Igboanugo is a subject of mine. I have so much respect for him. It’s a worthy event, and it’s all about contributing to mankind,” the monarch said.
Rotarian Bonaventure Igboanugo comes to the presidency with decades of business and philanthropic experience. He’s the Managing Director/CEO of Hotel Du Milano, Founder/CEO of Rockblim Digital Services, Co-Founder and Chairman of AWACASH Microfinance Bank, and Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of AWACASH Technology Ltd.
