UN assessment validates Uzodinma’s transformational leadership — APC National Vice Chairman, Arodiogbu
The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South East, Prof. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has described the recent assessment by the United Nations on developments in Imo State as a strong validation of the transformational leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
In a press statement, Arodiogbu said the observations of the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, during her recent visit to Imo State demonstrated that the reforms and development initiatives of the Uzodinma administration were gaining international recognition.
The UN Deputy Secretary-General, who visited Governor Uzodinma at the Government House in Owerri, expressed optimism over developments in the state, particularly in digital transformation, youth empowerment, economic diversification, infrastructure, education and public-sector reforms.
According to Arodiogbu, the statement by the UN Deputy Secretary-General that “what I saw in Imo is inspiring” represents a significant endorsement of the administration’s efforts to reposition the state for sustainable development.
He said: “The United Nations assessment of Imo State is not merely a diplomatic compliment. It is a significant validation of the purposeful and transformational leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
“Today, the world is taking notice of what is happening in Imo State. The investments in digital skills, youth empowerment, infrastructure, technology, human capital development and economic diversification are creating a new foundation for sustainable growth.”
Arodiogbu particularly commended the administration’s Imo Digital Economy Agenda, noting that the training of young people in software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies was preparing Imo youths for participation in the global knowledge economy.
He also welcomed the growing partnership between the Imo State Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), particularly in the areas of digital innovation, job creation, entrepreneurship and technology.
The APC National Vice Chairman further noted that the UN’s emphasis on strengthening energy systems, expanding climate-finance opportunities, improving supply chains and deepening social protection was an indication that Imo was increasingly being positioned as an important development partner within the international community.
He said Governor Uzodinma’s leadership had moved beyond conventional governance to a model focused on **innovation, economic opportunity, human capital development and institutional transformation.
“Governor Uzodinma deserves commendation for creating an environment where international development organisations can see opportunities for partnership and sustainable investment.
“This is the kind of leadership that the APC stands for—a leadership that converts challenges into opportunities and places the welfare and future of the people at the centre of governance,” Arodiogbu stated.
The APC leader also praised the Governor for aligning Imo State’s development programmes with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the broader economic transformation agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He urged Ndi Imo to continue supporting the administration, saying the growing international recognition of the state’s progress would help attract more development partnerships, investment and technical support.
Arodiogbu concluded that the UN engagement had demonstrated that “Imo State is no longer only talking about transformation; the transformation is becoming visible, measurable and increasingly recognised beyond Nigeria.”
The UN visit also resulted in renewed commitments to strengthen collaboration with Imo State in infrastructure, clean energy, digital development and technical assistance.
