Omisore Backs Oyebamiji As APC Govs Hold Strategic Session In Osun ….Former Deputy Gov Activates Political Structure For Party’s Victory
Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has pledged his total support for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, in Saturday’s August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.
Omisore made the commitment on Friday when he received the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji, and the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, at his residence in Osun State.
The visit formed part of strategic engagements by the two APC Governors with critical stakeholders ahead of the election, as the party intensifies its efforts to secure victory for Oyebamiji and return Osun State to the progressive fold.
During the meeting, Governors Oyebanji and Ododo engaged Omisore on strategies for delivering victory for the APC candidate, urging the former Deputy Governor to deploy his considerable political network and influence in support of Oyebamiji.
The Governors described Saturday’s election as one of the most consequential elections in the political history of Osun State and stressed the need for all stakeholders to put the collective interest of the party above past disagreements.
They also reminded Omisore of the importance of rewarding the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which they said had continued to transform the fortunes and development capacity of states across the country.
The Governors maintained that Osun State couldn’t afford to remain outside the progressive mainstream, urging stakeholders to unite behind Oyebamiji and work for the emergence of an administration that would be aligned with the Federal Government’s development agenda.
In his response, Omisore thanked Governors Oyebanji and Ododo for the honour of the visit and assured them of his total commitment to the success of the APC and the candidacy of Oyebamiji.
He said, “I want to thank the two Governors for coming to see me and for the honour they have done me. I remain committed to the success of our party and to the emergence of our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, as the next Governor of Osun State.”
Omisore said the disagreements of the past had been put behind him, stressing that his immediate priority was the victory of the APC and the advancement of the interests of Osun State.
“Whatever disagreements we had in the past are effectively behind us. What matters now is the victory of the APC and the progress of Osun State. I am fully committed to this cause,” he said.
The former National Secretary of the APC further disclosed that he had activated his political structure across the state to mobilise support for Oyebamiji, describing Saturday’s election as a “must-win” for the party.
“I’ve activated my political structure. For us, tomorrow’s election is a must-win. I am very optimistic about our chances because the people of Osun are progressive-minded. We are going into this election with confidence, unity and a clear determination to deliver victory for Bola Oyebamiji and the APC,” Omisore said.
The meeting underscored the renewed efforts by the APC to consolidate its political structure in Osun State ahead of the poll, with party leaders and influential stakeholders closing ranks around Oyebamiji.
Omisore’s commitment comes after he and other prominent Osun political figures publicly backed Oyebamiji, with the APC also recently incorporating him into its National Campaign Council for the August 15 governorship election.
The APC has continued its final mobilisation across the state, with party leaders urging voters to support Oyebamiji and return Osun to what they describe as the progressive mainstream.
