Ideato Friends Club, committed to the welfare of their members, has expressed willingness to care and support members and their families at their moments of need.

Speaking at the wakekeep of one of their members, the Late Remigius Nwosu at Idimu, Lagos State, on May 23, 2026, the Chairman of Ideato Friends Club, Uche Elochukwu, (Elo White) a businessman, dealing in phone and laptop accessories at the Computer Village said that the club has plans to assist the children of the late Remigius Nwosu, “What we said is this, in our constitution, it is well written that the association will visit the family yearly at least for five years, serious visit, we are not visiting with empty hand, we have things earmarked that we go with for five good years consistently and constitutionally.

“Apart from that, a member has single handedly volunteered to pay for the school fees of the son, voluntarily,” he stated.

Elochukwu disclosed that already the Club visited the family immediately the news of the demise of Remigius was broken to them. “We have already visited the family with a bag of rice, a bag of Indomie because as the children are now, there is nobody to take care of them, no father, no mother. So we have to fill that gap in one way or the other. And we are calling on every other person who are touched by this particular message to try to do that because it is very very necessary, because every human being that is living must eat, yes, we are mourning the death, but then we shouldn’t forget the living. The living matters most, the dead has gone, the living must be taken proper care of. Therefore we are more concerned about the children and their wellbeing,” he stated.

Elochukwu who hails from Umukegwu, Akokwa, Ideato North of Imo State, was the former Vice Chairman of Ideato Friends Club; he took up the responsibility of the chairmanship of club following the sudden demise of the late Remigius Nwosu, from Osina Ancient kingdom.

According to Elowhite, “Ideato Friends Club as an association, is a registered club here in Lagos, and it is admissible to any indigene of Ideato nation who desires to be a member, because it is an association that cares for brotherhood. It is an association that will come out whenever any member has an issue. The association will come out in full force to protect because they are always looking after the welfare of their members.”

On why the association was at the wakekeep of the late Remigius Nwosu, Elochukwu further revealed, “The main reason we are here is that our Chairman, who is the late Mr Remigius Nwosu had a brief illness and died. And today being 23rd of May, 2026, is earmarked as the wakekeep so the members of Ideato Friends Club are here to pay respect as a bonafide member of the association, he was the chairman till death. So that is the main reason Ideato Friends Club members all gathered here in one accord, to give respect to who respect is due, and even the wife died four years ago, so it is something tragic, we are not happy about it, and the children now are orphans, we must show care, we must show support.”

On his part, Ekene Ilobinso (Ohia anakpata ego 1 of Ideato Nation) said it has become necessary for citizens of Ideato both North and South to join the club because the club embraces brotherhood and cares for members even at the most critical challenges of a member’s life.

He added that the late Remigius Nwosu before he died was a man of peace, adding the late Nwosu abhorred violence and was a gentleman in all its ramifications.

Ilobinso further assured that the club would do everything within her constitutional provisions to ensure the children of their late member do not suffer or their education derailed as a result of the absence of their parents.
