Comrade Victor Edward-Ogba, the National Chairman, Movement for Nigeria’s Transformation (MNT) has commended the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Political Matters, Mobilisation and Engagement, Hon. Eugene Utubor on his well-deserved appointment
Comrade Edward-Ogba made the commendation during a courtesy visit by members of his organization to Utubor on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Victor said, “The MNT is made up of progressively minded Nigerians; with a National Exco, 36 States and FCT chapters, and some chapters in the diaspora.”
He added “We fervently worked for the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023, the election of most of the performing State governors in the country presently, and of recent the election of our indefatigable Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo. In line with this track records of the MNT, we are poised to collaborate with you in your capacity as the anchor-man meant to superintend over political matters and mobilisation in the state, and advise our treasured Governor accordingly.”
Comrade Edward-Ogba said the courtesy call was first “To felicitate with you on this well-deserved appointment by our distinguished, amiable and dynamic Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo. We pray that God, in His infinite goodness and mercies, would guide you aright in the discharge of your duties both to the Governor and Edolites as a whole.”
He averred that the office of Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Political Matters, Mobilisation and Engagement is a very vital and sensitive one that provides a veritable channel through which the governor can reach out to progressively-inclined political parties, associations and groups. “We want to say that your office is a very vital and sensitive one that provides a veritable channel through which Edo State Government, under our well-meaning Governor, can reach out to progressively-inclined political parties, associations and groups which resources could be coordinated and mobilized towards effective delivery of democratic dividends to the accommodating, hardworking and good people of Edo State.”
“We, of the MNT, have all along been in the vanguard of the dynamic and progressive-bent political associations and groups. We make bold to say here that the MNT was birthed over five years ago. Its formation was informed by the need to put in place a body that would work towards having responsive, effective and good governance across all levels of government in our dear country, Nigeria. Hence, outside other objectives as contained in our constitution and the measures/efforts we have deployed so far to realizing them, we have often identified and worked assiduously to enthrone progressively minded administrations at the national and state levels across the country for some time now,” he stated.
On what MNT has done over the years including a written agenda to the state governor which if implemented would make his tenure outstandingly successful in the eyes of Edolites and Nigerians of goodwill. He said “It may interest you to know that aside the congratulatory letters we have written to the Governor over his victories at both the polls and at the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal, we have on inception of his administration, sent him a prepared comprehensive agenda which if implemented would make his tenure outstandingly successful in the eyes of Edolites and Nigerians of goodwill. Through some of the items in the submitted agenda are presently being implemented, the MNT feels that more, and even some refinements on the ones already being worked out, still need to be done.”
Comrade Edward-Ogba spoke on many areas of possible collaboration between the office of special adviser and MNT. “The MNT strongly believes that there are several areas that your office and our Movement will collaborate, we will like to request here for your assistance in addressing some of the following challenges that we are confronted with: (a) Courtesy visit to His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State. We have before this time written to his office for a courtesy visit to enable us rub minds on issues affecting the State, especially the burning issue of insecurity that is already fast impacting adversely on food production/security in Edo State.”
He appealed to the special adviser on areas he could be of immense assistance to the group. “We humbly request, and count on you, to help facilitate this for us at your earliest convenience. (b) Conveyance of a full National Executive Committee meeting of the MNT here in Benin City, Edo State. An Annual General Meeting of the MNT comprising National Exco members, six Zonal Coordinators, five Exco members each from all the 36 states’ chapters including the FCT (with the Diaspora officers slated to participate via zoom) had been on the front burner for some time now.
“The set agenda is to review previous strategies deployed in the 2023 presidential and gubernatorial elections, and to fine-tune and work out effective ones in the changing times so as to successfully deliver for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other progressive State Governors in 2027.
“Unfortunately, the hindrance to organizing the meeting had been due to paucity of the desired funds. We would therefore be obliged if you could be of assistance to the MNT in getting this done,” he said.
