A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon (Chief) Modestus Umenzekwe (Onwa Achina), has commiserated with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and indeed Nigerians over the demise of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja.
Umenzekwe while speaking to the media in his office in Lagos disclosed that Lagbaja lived a life of a seasoned officer who did his best to reposition the Nigerian Army. “The much I knew him, he lived a life of a seasoned officer; the young man did his best to repositioned the Nigerian army to greater height and for the safety of the country.”
Umenzekwe who said he came in contact with COAS at 82 Division Enugu, when he was the Commandant, passed the verdict that Lagbaja proved his mettle. “And he proved his mettle there and other commands where he served.”
Umenzekwe while mourning the departure of the patriotic soldier, whom President Tinubu appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) because of his professionalism, said it is unfortunately that death snatched him away when his services are most needed in the country.
He said, “I commiserate with the president, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and indeed the whole Nigeria, but in a special way, the Nigerian Army and Nigerian security agencies at large.
“May the good lord give him eternal rest.
“Also may the lord give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Umenzekwe stated.
