LASU committed to contributing to Nigeria’s marine & blue economy sector
The Lagos State University (LASU) has expressed its commitment to contributing its quota to the development of the nation’s marine and blue economy sector.
Emeritus Professor Anetekhai Martins Agenuma made the disclosure while speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Professsor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, at the African Union’s workshop on Validation of Nigeria’s Strategic Document for Sustainable Implementation of Marine and Blue Economy, between October 14 and 16 in Abuja.
In his Goodwill Message said “Our university, with its Centers of Marine and Blue Economy and Center of Excellence for Sargassum Research, is committed to contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s emergence as a leading player in the marine and blue economy sector. We recognize the transformative potential of this strategic document and pledge our expertise in research, skill delivery, and capacity building to support its successful implementation.”
He said Lagos State University, a premier institution dedicated to excellence in research and education, commends the Federal Government of Nigeria’s visionary step in establishing the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. “We acknowledge the African Union’s support in facilitating this workshop to validate the strategic document, crafted by renowned consultants.
He added, “We express interest in collaborative initiatives at national, regional, and continental levels, fostering synergy between academia, government, and industry stakeholders. By sharing knowledge and resources, we can collectively unlock the vast potential of Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.”
On behalf of the VC he extended his heartfelt felicitations to the African Union’s workshop on Validation of Nigeria’s Strategic Document for Sustainable Implementation of Marine and Blue Economy. “We wish the workshop productive deliberations, fruitful outcomes, and enduring connections. May this gathering validate a robust strategic document, guiding Nigeria’s sustainable development and prosperity,” he said.
