Beyond recreation, sports offers vast opportunities for entrepreneurship, leadership, networking— Dist. Prof. Anetekhai

Distinguished Emeritus Prof. Anetekhai Martins of the Lagos State University (LASU) has stated that sports apart from being avenue for recreation, offers vast opportunities for entrepreneurship, leadership, and networking.

Prof. Anetekhai made the statement as part of his Goodwill Message at the 11th Africa University Games co-hosted by the Lagos State University and the University of Lagos.

He said Sports possesses the transformative power to cultivate sound minds and healthy bodies and encourage the participants to explore the prospects offered by sports and forge lasting connections. “This gathering is more than just a sporting event; it is an opportunity to strengthen African bonds, paving the way for innovative industrial development, cultural exchange, and unity.”

He urged the participants to play according to the rules. “To all participants, I say: Exhibit excellence, sportsmanship, and the unwavering African Spirit.”

While wishing every participant and host a successful and memorable experience, Prof. Anetekhai commended collaboration between LASU and UNILAG, which he said served as a shining example for Africa’s economic development. “The partnership among State, Federal, Regional, and Continental governments, exemplified by LASU and UNILAG, serves as a shining example for Africa’s economic development. Let us draw inspiration from this synergy to foster similar collaborations across the continent.”

The Distinguished Emeritus Prof. Anetekhai Martins, extended his warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for hosting the 11th Africa University Games, and called it a remarkable achievement in the face of economic challenges, saying “This milestone underscores the exceptional leadership and collaborative spirit of both institutions.”
