Primate Ayodele to Ahmad Lawan: Your chances to be governor of your state are being blocked
Servant of the Most High God, Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, has prophetically revealed that several opportunities for former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, to be governor of his state are being blocked.
Primate Ayodele made the revelation while speaking to journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Primate Ayodele said, “Every chance for you to become governor of your state, they will block it.” Adding that despite Lawan’s political experience and national exposure, his path to becoming a state governor could face significant resistance from political stakeholders and internal power structures.
According to Ayodele, Nigerian politics is often shaped by strong local dynamics, where state-level contests can be influenced by entrenched interests, party negotiations, and competing ambitions. He noted that even highly experienced politicians at the national level may still encounter challenges when attempting to transition into state leadership roles.
Ayodele further emphasized that governorship races require strong grassroots connections, widespread local support, and carefully managed political alliances. He suggested that without these elements, even prominent figures like Lawan may struggle to secure the party ticket or win at the polls.
The cleric also advised that political ambition must be matched with strategic planning and deep engagement with local stakeholders. He stressed that understanding state political realities is crucial for anyone aspiring to executive leadership at that level.
Ayodele concluded by urging Ahmad Lawan to remain politically strategic and closely assess the realities of his home state’s political environment, noting that success in such contests depends on structure, timing, and strong grassroots
