Blind woman leads daughter, 15, mother of one, to family planning
The need for family planning, on May 14, 2025, appeared to be receiving greater attention as hundreds trooped out to the Boundary Market in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos to receive family planning.
This conclusion was made during a family planning outreach programme organised by the Challenge Initiative (TCI) in collaboration with the Lagos State Government.
Among those sighted at the outreach venue was a blind woman who boldly led her 15 years old daughter to the venue for family planning.
The woman who looked seriously worried, gesticulated, murmured and complained of being tired of ceaseless termination of pregnancies for the little girl who was obviously being harassed by men due to the poor condition of the family.
Jelili Nofisat who lives at no 5 Ajenifuja Street, Okoya in Ajegunle, did not talk but calmly sat down when asked to be administered with the family planning.
After the necessary checks, Nosifat was administered with an injectable.
Not only that the aged blind woman was tired of men taking advantage of the young girl”s situation, but the daughter already has a child from unwanted pregnancy.
There is no doubt that the 15 years old girl is the one literally taking care of the mother financially.
Consequently her constantly getting pregnant was assumed to be a clog in the wheel of progress if they must continue to survive, hence the blind mother brought her for family planning.
Men are taking advantage of her situation, many quipped, because she’s the one literally taking care of the mother and men hardly give without collecting something in return, this time sleeping with the innocent young girl.
